  A Chorus Line
  The Regal Theatre, Redruth

Redruth Amateur Operatic Society (Trust) presents ‘A Chorus Line’ live on stage at the Regal Theatre, Redruth. 9th – 11th September 2010 In an empty theatre, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. The field’s been narrowed down to just 17 dancers. For these men and women, this audition is the chance of a lifetime. It’s what they’ve worked for — with every drop of sweat, every hour of training. But before the final cut is made, the director Zach asks each of them to talk about themselves. But Zach wants more than just their resumes. He wants to know about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions and careers. From funny to heartbreaking, these 17 dancers share with us the stories of their lives. They put themselves on the line to get a job on the line. And when they’re done, so is the audition, and the final chorus line of 8 dancers is chosen. (This show contains moderate language and sex references) Show times: 7:30pm on 9th & 10th

Children who attend The Music Train stay with us for many years and gain benefits far beyond the obvious musical learning. They develop in areas such as physical, emotional, intellectual, social and creative through the use of a wide range of media such as craft activites, moving to music, listening activities, action songs etc. Our classes offer a fun and stimulating environment and parents/carers find The Music Train aids their bonding experience with thier child. We have a very wide range of instruments and equipment, and each week, the instruments in our train carriages are changed so that children (and grown ups) can explore many different sounds over the course of the term. They will gain hands on experience with real cellos, trumpets, bass drums etc as they progress through ou

Kairos4tet - Jazz at the Brewery
  St Austell Brewery, St Austell

Adam Waldmann- Saxophones Jasper Hoiby- Bass Rob Barron- Piano Jon Scott- Drums Named after the Greek for ‘optimum moment’ this shimmering tune-laden debut from twentysomething saxophonist Adam Waldmann is full of perfectly timed melodic statements. Each luminiously unfurling tune orbits around his exquisitely warm Wayne Shorterish tone on song-like pieces, he’s created a starkly contemplative album. With a star turn from Danish bassist Jasper Hoiby and supple rhythmns, strong melodies, inventive harmonies and flowing improvisation – all point to a young master in the making. "Kairos Quartet are that most difficult of beasts to write snappily about: a no-frills, no-gimmicks, serious-minded band, playing original (Waldmann) compositions imbued solely with musicianly values" Chris Parker, The Vortex "Adam is a beautiful sax player with a strong identity and fantastic ideas. As a soprano player particularly, he’s one of very few musicians who have developed an exciting, per

  In the Ocean Light
Falmouth Arts Centre, Church Street, Falmouth

The pervasive influence of the sea on the landscape that surrounds him in the far west of Cornwall is Tom's principal theme in this exhibition. He has found that the influence of the ambient “ocean” light in this part of Cornwall has been a key factor in his recent work. This includes charcoal drawings as well as paintings employing a variety of formats. All the work intended for the exhibition is featured on his website.
