The St Austell Brewery Company Limited was founded in 1851 by Walter Hicks, who mortgaged his farm for £1,500 to set up the business in St Austell.

The company remains in private hands with Walter Hicks' descendants involved as shareholders, employees and directors, and is one of the oldest of only a few independent family brewers left in the UK.

See the visitor centre and be a part of the history… and maybe take a little some of it away with you!  Includes museum and tour.

One can't fail to enjoy the Breweries and cider farms throughout the county from Skinners ale to Rattler's cider. St Austell's also produce some fine tasting ale

We were fascinated to have a look round this Victorian brewery. It was a splendid way to spend an afternoon. Our stay in Cornwall was fabulous and this was a highlight. Michael certainly had a good time. One point that is a little on the downside is the brewery is a bit difficult to get around. I found the staircases ever so steep. Overall, though, a very interesting attraction.
